In a historic announcement that has sent waves through the rock community, Rush’s surviving members, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee, have confirmed they will organize a one-night tribute concert for late drummer Neil Peart. The concert is set to take place on October 5, 2025, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Neil’s home country and the birthplace of Rush.
This tribute will be the first official public celebration of Peart’s legacy since his passing in 2020. Known for his technical brilliance and poetic lyrics, Peart was more than a drummer—he was the heartbeat and soul of Rush. Geddy and Alex have long expressed a desire to honor their friend properly, and now, after years of mourning and reflection, they’re ready to do it on their own terms.
The concert promises to be a star-studded affair, with guest drummers and musicians from across the rock world expected to take part. Though the full lineup hasn’t been revealed, sources say invitations have gone out to Dave Grohl, Chad Smith, and Stewart Copeland, among others. Fans can expect live performances of Rush classics like “Tom Sawyer,” “YYZ,” and “Subdivisions”—with each track delivered in tribute to Peart’s legendary skills.
In a joint statement, Geddy and Alex said, “This is for Neil. Not a reunion. Not a comeback. Just a night to celebrate the man who inspired millions and gave his all to music.” The concert will also support brain cancer research, with a portion of proceeds going to relevant charities—a nod to the disease that claimed Peart’s life.
Tickets go on sale April 15, and demand is expected to be sky-high. Whether you’re a lifelong Rush fan or just someone who admired Peart’s genius, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event. A night of music. A night of legacy. A night for Neil.
