Guns N’ Roses’ New Drummer Plays Wrong Song Onstage – Watch the Awkward Moment Unfold
During a recent show in Yokohama, Japan, Guns N’ Roses had a moment that left fans stunned and confused. Their new drummer, Isaac Carpenter, kicked off the wrong song during the second night of the 2025 world tour—turning what should’ve been a smooth transition into a brief onstage train wreck. It was supposed to be “Bad Obsession,” but Carpenter launched straight into “Mr. Brownstone,” forcing the band to slam the brakes.
Frontman Axl Rose wasn’t pleased. As the incorrect intro echoed through the stadium, he cut in—clearly annoyed—and tried to redirect the band. “No… Bad Obsession,” he snapped, but the confusion lingered. Bassist Duff McKagan and keyboardist Dizzy Reed tried to adapt on the fly. Meanwhile, Axl, visibly rattled, asked, “Can Isaac not hear me? Somebody answer me.” The show hung in limbo until Carpenter finally switched gears and hit the correct beat.
This was only the second show of the tour, and Isaac Carpenter—who officially replaced longtime drummer Frank Ferrer in March—hadn’t had much time to settle in. While he’s no rookie (he’s played with McKagan’s side project, Loaded), joining a band like Guns N’ Roses comes with sky-high expectations. One wrong intro is all it takes to rattle the room—and the frontman.
Despite the hiccup, the band powered through. Later shows reportedly went off without any issues. The tour, which started May 1 in South Korea, is set to continue through Asia and Europe over the next few months. Most fans seem to be taking the gaffe in stride—chalk it up to the unpredictability of live rock ‘n’ roll.
