The Police Are Back: Sting, Copeland, and Summers Announce Long-Awaited Reunion Tour
Fans of classic rock have reason to celebrate—The Police are officially reuniting. Sting (lead vocals and bass), Stewart Copeland (drums), and Andy Summers (guitar) have confirmed they are coming together once again for a global reunion tour. It’s been nearly two decades since their last tour in 2007–2008, and the news has electrified audiences around the world.
The band rose to fame in the late 1970s with a sound that fused reggae, punk, and rock. Hits like Roxanne, Every Breath You Take, and Message in a Bottle defined an era and cemented their place as one of the most iconic bands of the 20th century. Now, decades later, fans will finally get to see the original trio perform those classics live once again.
Each member has pursued individual careers since their split in 1986. Sting built a massively successful solo career with hits like Fields of Gold and Desert Rose. Stewart Copeland composed for film and television, and recently toured with orchestral reinterpretations of The Police’s catalog. Andy Summers explored jazz, released solo albums, and made a name for himself as a photographer. Despite creative tensions in the past, all three have said the timing now “feels right.”
The reunion tour is being called Synchronicity Reimagined, named after their groundbreaking 1983 album. It will kick off in London this fall, followed by stops in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Berlin, Sydney, and more. According to their announcement, the tour will feature both the hits fans love and rare deep cuts they’ve never performed live before.
What sparked the reunion? Sources close to the band say it began with casual conversations between Copeland and Summers, who had both continued playing The Police’s music in different ways. Sting reportedly joined later, and the trio agreed to set aside past differences for the sake of the music and the fans.
In a joint statement, they said: “We’ve had time to reflect, grow, and realize how much this music means to people. There’s a special energy when the three of us play together. This tour isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s about reconnecting with that energy and sharing it with the world.”
Fans can expect modern production, reimagined visuals, and perhaps even some new material. While no new album has been confirmed, Sting hinted in a recent interview that they’ve “been experimenting in the studio” and “may surprise everyone” with fresh tracks before the tour begins.
Tickets go on sale next week, and demand is expected to be massive. This may very well be the last chance to see Sting, Stewart Copeland, and Andy Summers perform together as The Police. If you’ve ever sung along to Every Breath You Take, now is the time to see the legends live.
