Whitney Houston’s Family and UMG Announce Posthumous Album Featuring Iconic Collaborations

Uncategorized Article

In a major announcement that has already set the music world ablaze, the family of Whitney Houston, in collaboration with Universal Music Group (UMG), has confirmed plans to release a stunning posthumous album that will reintroduce the legendary vocalist in an extraordinary way. Titled “Whitney: Beyond the Voice”, the album will combine unreleased vocal recordings with fresh, genre-spanning collaborations that promise to deliver a soul-shaking experience for fans around the world.

This historic release will mark the first full-length studio project from Houston’s estate since her passing in 2012. According to UMG, the album features never-before-heard studio takes from the late 1990s and early 2000s—vaulted tracks that were preserved in pristine condition and have now been brought back to life using state-of-the-art digital restoration and production.

Pat Houston, Whitney’s longtime manager and sister-in-law, is overseeing the project on behalf of the estate. “This isn’t just about reviving old recordings,” she said. “This is about taking Whitney’s spirit into the future. We’ve always known her voice was eternal—now we’re showing what that truly means.”

“Whitney: Beyond the Voice” will feature collaborations with some of the biggest stars in music today. Confirmed artists include Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Usher, Jazmine Sullivan, and Jennifer Hudson—the latter of whom is said to appear on a powerhouse duet version of “Run to You.” Industry whispers also suggest that a surprise track featuring Beyoncé is in the works, though details remain tightly under wraps.

UMG has enlisted top-tier producers for the project, including Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, who worked with Whitney in the early 2000s, as well as Babyface and Hit-Boy. The goal, insiders say, is to blend lush, classic arrangements with fresh, contemporary production—staying true to Whitney’s unmatched vocal power while creating something new for this generation.

The lead single, a reimagined version of the emotional ballad “I Have Nothing” featuring Adele, will be released in November 2025. Producers say the duet has been crafted with great care to allow both vocalists to shine, while honoring the majesty of the original. Early listening sessions have reportedly left label executives “in tears.”

Accompanying the album will be a feature-length Netflix documentary titled “The Voice Remains: Whitney’s Last Gift”. The film will provide behind-the-scenes access to the making of the album, as well as intimate reflections from Whitney’s family, collaborators, and younger artists who drew inspiration from her unmatched career.

The album will be released on March 1, 2026, to coincide with what would have been Whitney’s 63rd birthday. A global campaign dubbed #BeyondWhitney will include immersive audio experiences, digital streaming activations, holographic tribute performances, and a charity initiative supporting aspiring vocalists from underserved communities.

Reaction to the news has been overwhelmingly positive. Fans around the world took to social media to express their excitement and gratitude, with many noting that Whitney’s voice helped shape their emotional and musical lives. The announcement has already fueled renewed interest in her catalog, with streaming numbers for her classics surging within hours.

Music critics and industry veterans are already calling the project one of the most ambitious posthumous releases in modern pop history. “Whitney’s voice was lightning in a bottle,” said vocal coach and producer David Foster. “To hear it again in a fresh, respectful way—especially alongside voices she helped inspire—is more than a tribute. It’s a cultural moment.”

With “Whitney: Beyond the Voice”, the world is not just remembering an icon—it’s welcoming her back. A decade after her passing, the voice that defined a generation is ready to soar again, louder, bolder, and more eternal than ever.
