Red Sox Set to Snatch Blue Jays All-Star in Game-Changing Deadline Move!

Boston Red Sox fans have plenty of reasons to be optimistic right now.

Despite being underestimated heading into the 2024 season, Boston is in a strong position. The Red Sox began the season with very low expectations but have exceeded them all so far. However, with a lot of the season still ahead, Boston needs some reinforcement in the starting rotation.

The Red Sox boast a lot of exciting young talent and have a shot at returning to the postseason. However, adding a veteran starter to strengthen the rotation is essential.

The trade deadline is approaching in just a few weeks, and one player who could perfectly fit Boston’s needs is All-Star Chris Bassitt. The Toronto Blue Jays appear to be sellers this summer, and Bassitt is considered the second-best starter who might be available, though a deal is unlikely, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

“The (New York Yankees) killer (0.82 ERA lifetime against) could interest the (Baltimore Orioles), but like Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, he probably stays in Toronto,” Heyman said. “Trade chances: Very Low.”

Although Heyman noted that the chances of a deal are slim, if the Blue Jays continue to struggle, Bassitt would be a fantastic trade option for the Red Sox.

He clearly has substantial experience pitching in the American League East and has found success against the Red Sox’s biggest rival. Additionally, with him under contract for next season, the Red Sox would have one less concern heading into the winter.

As Toronto edges closer to a rebuild, Bassitt will hold significant trade value, so a deal should not be completely ruled out.
